Compassion Can Bring an End to Hunger
Helping South Bay kids have the food they need on the weekends.

More than 123,000 students in San Diego County are identified as food insecure. For many of these children, the school meals they receive are their most reliable source of nutrition.

Every child deserves the food and nourishment that allows them to learn, grow and thrive. Got Your Back Too is sending children home with much needed nutritious food for the weekend so they are ready for school when they return on Monday. With the food Got Your Back Too provides, students will have the energy to participate, explore and understand all the lessons in their school day.

Got Your Back Too

Because Hunger Shouldn’t Follow Kids to Class.

Food insecurity is not limited to one neighborhood, one community or one background.

More than 123,000 students in San Diego County are identified as food insecure.

What happens over the weekend when school is out?

With your help, Got Your Back Too will be there to bridge the gap over the weekends.

Together, we can make sure children facing food insecurity have food to take home for the weekend.

Send Kids Home With Food They Can Count On.

Got Your Back Too supplies food-insecure children with a bag of food to bring home every weekend during the school year.

This bag of food can bring a little ease to a family’s weekend. Your donation helps make that possible.

Give Once. Make a Difference.

A gift of any amount helps purchase food and support our weekend food program. Give what feels right for you—every contribution matters.

Make Kindness a Monthly Habit

A recurring gift of at least $40 a month helps provide a student with nutritious food for weekends throughout the month. Your ongoing support helps us plan ahead and keep food bags filled.

School Performance Through Nutrition

Hunger affects everyone, but children are especially vulnerable to its effects.

When children have reliable access to nutritious food, the difference can be profound.

Children struggling with hunger face challenges with cognitive growth, physical wellbeing, behavior, learning and social development. Food insecurity can contribute to stress and anxiety and results in absenteeism and health risks.

When we nourish a child, we nourish their future.

Helping Hands Make It Happen

Change begins when we choose to help. One act of compassion can become a world of change and hope for a child allowing them to reach their full potential.
